per COM:EDUSE: fictional flag. Currently only used in userpages on Wiki projects, but shows the potential of misuse Constantine 07:23, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What about Template:User page image? Someone would have to be pretty inattentive to put an image with "fictitious" in its title on a Wikipedia article about Crete! AnonMoos (talk) 18:33, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Commons is unfortunately full of images clearly marked as fictitious in their name or description, that doesn't stop people from adding them to mainspace content. Constantine 21:03, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I support deletion. As Constantine says, such flags are regularly added despite their marking as fictitious. If follow a number of such flags and regularly have to remove them at least in the languages I can handle. There is also another side to this. This file was renamed from 'Flag of Crete.svg' on my request, leaving a redirect that for some policy reason cannot be removed. Now and then it happens that there are templates that check for the presence of 'Flag of Xxx'-files, pick up the redirect and add the redirect target to the template. I have only this week had to manually fix several templates (also in languages I do not understand a word of) to remove a similarly renamed 'Flag of Xxx' file. --TU-nor (talk) 10:31, 12 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
